Much of the development of new IS-F took place at Fuji Speedway and the Higashi-Fuji Technical Center in Japan. IS-F is based on the proven rear-wheel-drive Lexus IS, which features a double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension. Perform as well as the IS, Lexus engineers demanded much more, all the new IS-F. The result is a performance-tuning 5.0-liter V8 engine, topped with specially designed to enter the ends of the two-stage intake system, which produces over 350 hp and 400 ft-lbs. of torque. The new IS-F is equipped with engine-gearbox-oil and coolant for fast performance and the cylinder head scavenging oil pump for high G-Force driving.
IS-F engine is mated to the first eight-speed direct sport shifter. A new torque converter lock-up control was developed that allows a direct connection, net shift due to the constant lock-up torque converter in second through eighth gears. Drive mode, perform the transmission of the IS-F with great sweetness, and the torque converter allows you to launch a large-capacity standing start acceleration that will register a quick zero to 60 time in less than 4.9 seconds.

The remarkable acceleration achieved by the IS-F requires it be equipped with powerful Brembo brakes designed to the specifications of the Lexus engineering team. Huge, 14.2-inch drilled front discs are gripped by rigid, powerful aluminum calipers with six pistons, while 13.6-inch rear discs drilled according to two pistons. Brake pads are equipped with high-friction on all four wheels. The brakes are finished with the Lexus name displayed on the calipers, a first for a Lexus production vehicle.
The attention to performance also includes a modified suspension that lowers the entire car by more than half an inch from the base, and an inch wide compared to IS models equipped with 18-inch wheels. This specially modified suspension allows for an exciting and energetic drive, whether a racetrack or on the street.
IS-F features three brand-mode version of Lexus Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) the new system. In addition to the normal mode, the VDIM a new Sport mode that allows the driver to push the car even before the brakes, gas, and control systems of management kick in. The third VDIM is disabled, allowing the driver to push the IS-F to its ultimate level of handling performance.
Like the exterior, the interior of the IS-F receives unique styling with aluminum composite surface treatments and special trim. The instrument panel includes a temperature indicator and status indicators of displacement of oil, while the "F" logo is displayed on the wheel and the rear center console.
